Teach Boldly book coverTeach Boldly: Using Edtech for Social Good is an invitation for educators ready to mobilize on purposeful pedagogies for action--for the planet and for its people. As our world is facing extraordinary change and uncertainty, schools have an opportunity to lead through perseverance, innovation, and responsive and intentional designs based on the needs of students, families, and communities. Teach Boldly offers a plan for schools encountering multiple futures of in-person, online, and hybrid learning. Readers take an active role to move through the stages of human-centered design to consider time, space, and practice in building new learning that places students at the center and positive change not just as a scenario, but as a possibility through a process of inquiry and exploration.


  1. How might educators and school leaders use the phases of human-centered design (inspiration, ideation, implementation) in return-to-school planning? 
  2. How might the opinions and perspectives of students be incorporated into return-to-school planning?
  3. How will student and teacher well-being (belonging, joy, trust, identity) be incorporated and emphasized during the first weeks of school?
  4. How might a “pedagogy with purpose” around social good, student activism, and collective action be emphasized in instructional design for the 2020-2021 school year?
