Transitioning from Techy Teacher to Edtech Coach

This one-day workshop for "techy" teachers focuses on making the transition from technology rich classroom or discipline-specific instruction to leading educational technology within a division or for the whole school. Participants will learn strategies for inspiring others to innovate and take risks with technology, coaching adult learners effectively, managing change, and designing and delivering effective technology professional development. This workshop is ideal for anyone considering making the leap to a role as an instructional technologist or who has been tasked with helping others make effective use of instructional technology.  This workshop will focus on strategies and resources for success while working as a key member of a school’s technology team.

Included in the day will be: 

  • Goal setting and strategic planning for working to support the school’s mission via technology.
  • Understanding and choosing among frameworks that guide technology integration.
  • Developing a technology scope and sequence in tandem with the culture of the school.
  • FInding, developing, and maximizing resources, mentors, and learning opportunities to grow as a technology professional
  • Curating resources across disciplines and for a range of experience levels
  • Effective communication strategies for technology integrationists
  • Partnering effectively with the rest of the technology team
  • Depart with an action plan!
